""When one reflects upon what consciousness really is, one is profoundly impressed by the extreme wonder of the fact that an event which takes place outside in the cosmos simultaneously produces an internal image, that it takes place, so to speak, inside as well, which is to say becomes conscious."
C. G. Jung

The Bones Series explores the elements of ancestral history and the life experiences that frequently influence the development of human personality. The images of the bones refer to one's physical being and establish a relationship between the body the and the consciousness. The family photos, religious icons, and funerary monuments allude to events that mold personal psychology. These experiences form the images that become the framework upon which personality is built.

The idea of how the past impacts the present is evident in the
pairing of digital imagery with traditional fresco techniques. The works in the Bones Series were created with computer-scanned images, which were then printed with archival inks onto inkjet transfer papers.  A fresco base was prepared and poured onto the panels. The digital images were then laid on top and the ground rehydrated the inks. This caused the inks to migrate from the transfer paper and become part of the fresco ground itself. The inherent flaws of the fresco ground echo the flaws of human experience and distance the imagery from a cold, sterile aesthetic of the computer.
